Another aspect of networking is being someone whom your contacts would be happy to introduce and/or recommend to their network. Stay professional and this will help. Your contact’s reputation will in part be tied to his or her recommendation of you, so make sure you present yourself as someone they would be happy to tie their good name to.

Great analogy. People usually get their jobs through their weaker links. They have to be willing to put themselves out there frequently in order to hook up with friends of friends or colleagues of colleagues. Thank goodness for online networking…it makes getting to the weaker links a lot faster and more efficient.
